Peter one is originally from Cote dIvoire also known as the Ivory Coast, a French-speaking country in the West Africa. Although his parents claim their ancestry to be from the central part of the country, Peter was born and grew up in the southern part, on the banks of the Ono River, which is a few miles away from Abidjan, the Capital City. It's worth mentioning that the small town of ONO and its suburb until the Eighties sheltered the pineapple large-scale industry of the world. It offered great job opportunities and subsequently, people with different backgrounds in search of employment came over, thus causing a rich cultural mix referred to as a melting pot. This multi cultural environment will naturally inspire the young boy's beats and sounds, and sharpen his taste for diversified and well engineered rhythms when it comes to music.
Peter started showing great interest in folk-inspired music. Very early the young boy was attracted by the music of African traditional inspiration and therefore, made the acoustic guitar his favorite instrument. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of some African Troubadours like G.G. Vickey from Benin, Eboa Lotin or Francis Bebey from Cameroun. He also manifested equal and great admiration for Simone and Garfunkel, the CCR (USA), the band of Crosby, Still, Nash & Young, or Cat Stevens in UK. However, Peter's current and favorite artists are Phil Collins and Sting.
Peter was a college student when he met his friend Jess Sah Bi, a cartoonist with whom he shared the same musical interest. This happy encounter led to their first record in Country Music style in1985, entitled: "OUR GARDEN NEEDS ITS FLOWERS'. The new released remarkably sold volumes and favorably echoed throughout the West African region. This masterpiece propelled the two artists beyond their imagination. A second LP was released in 1988 but failed to maintain their acclaimed notoriety. Consequently, the two companions split up in 1990 and two years later (1992), Peter goes solo. He released an album of 4 songs entitled Zuzu 1 that tentatively re-established his past glory with the track entitled Bantustans. Peter describes this experience to be self rewarding and encouraging pursuing his career. Thus, in 1993 he launched his own band THE FOLKWAYS" with the most experienced and talented musicians like Bie Victor also known as Joe Paolo, a notorious drummer in the West Africa and Mimi Bass, one of the best songwriters in the Cote d'Ivoire. The Folkways toured around Cote d'Ivoire playing for weddings, political rallies, business grand openings or large business dinners. Peter was teaching History & Geography at the Yopougon Modern High School near Abidjan, while marvelously combining his musical activities and teaching duties at that time. Since 1995, Peter left the Ivory Coast for the country of Uncle Sam and currently works as a Licenced Nurse in the state of Delaware (USA). However, the artist has not renounced to his passion for music, which entertains a significant part of his life. Music always occupies a place of choice in his life. ...
